At the heart of Megabox Morris Furniture lies a design philosophy that prioritizes the sensory journey of its customers. The retail space, crafted by the visionary designer Bon Lam, is characterized by its expansive, curved layout that invites patrons to meander and discover. A standout element is the large sample palette prominently displayed on the wall, offering customers an immersive opportunity to see, touch, and feel the materials firsthand, thus enhancing their connection to the products.
The uniqueness of Megabox Morris stems from its strategic design, which presents varying angles and perspectives, allowing for a seamless and comprehensive viewing of the store's sofa offerings. The central feature wall, adorned with real leather samples, serves as a tactile focal point visible from any vantage point within the shop. This innovative approach not only enriches the shopping experience but also underscores the brand's commitment to customer-centric design.
Real wood skin and genuine leather are the materials of choice for the construction of the shop's partitions and feature wall, respectively. These authentic materials not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal but also reflect the brand's dedication to sustainability and quality. The technical specifications of the feature wall, measuring 6500mm in width, 1500mm in height, and 300mm in depth, reveal the meticulous attention to detail that went into its creation.
Launched in October 2022, the project was a race against time, with the design team facing the challenge of constructing a sustainable environment within a tight timeframe. The process involved laying cement tiles, pre-ordering decorative furniture, and conducting installations overnight to minimize disruption in the bustling Hong Kong shopping mall. This dedication to excellence is a testament to the team's ability to overcome creative and technical hurdles.
Megabox Morris is not only a retail space but also a statement of design innovation. The use of high-quality, home-grade materials in a commercial setting is a pioneering move aimed at creating a homely ambiance within the retail environment. This approach has resonated with the design community, earning the project an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2024, a recognition of its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature.
